help with profile edge problem

Post by Ray Jorgensen »

I have some arched door that have \"plastic glass\" (real ugly) in them that the folks want to put wood inserts in (like the rest of the doors). No problem, I'll draw them up and cut them out. When I try to profile the edge I get an \"internal algerithum error\". Doesn't matter where I start or what direction. I was able to get it done once by appling the profile one segment at a time, but I can imagine what that would do in the profile modeler and at the machine.

There are 2 sizes of doors and I have done this sucessfully on the doors that are a little wider and with different arcs.

I have attached the panel, tool geomety and the tool.

All help is appreciated!!!

Ray,

Try it with a tool offset of at least half the dia. of the tool. Your toolpath line will need to be moved over by the same amount. I had the same issue a while back and Kerry came up with this work around. Hope this helps.

Thanks Brian,

I didn't want to have to do all the geometry, etc. over again so I just put a small offset (ended up the smallest it would take is .151) and it works fine. These doors are clear away from any of the originals so that small amount of difference will not be noticable.

Thanks again.
