What's going on?????????????

Post by Damon Nabors »

Ok, I designed my kitchen, and remembered rule #1 (save, save, save). During the process of building the kitchen,I checked the cost sheet and nest, just out of curiosity. When I checked, it showed x-number of doors, 20 something sheets of plywood, and aprox. $3700.00 in materials.

Ok, I can go along with that, I go back and add two more cabinets on a penninsula wall to finish the job and now I go back to look at the nest and cost sheet to find that now, it is going to take only 6 sheets. The doors are still correct at 37, drawer box material is there. But how come my cabinets did not nest or show up on the cost sheet correctly????????

Thanks
Damon

PS If Nested Manufacturing is going to allow me to stretch my sheet goods from 23 sheet to 6 sheets. Hey, I'm all for it.
Or maybe that chinese plywood delaminated and thats how it stretched my budget. Hummmmm. Something to think about.

Well, I saved the job so I could post and went back to see if it had changed and it did. now I have:

Sheet Stock
Total Quantity 1724256788
Total Cost @ 68.00% estimated yield $44830676524.00
Percent Markup 10.00% $4483067552.20
Fixed Markup $0.00
Total Cost With Markups $49313744076.20

What's up with this, I don't beleave I can sell the job. The sheet goods will cost more than it did to build the whole subdivision.

Damon,

The price of the self delaminating plywood shot through the roof last week...

You must not have gotten the memo.

This has happened to me in the past. Except it was with the actual sizes of the sheet stock.

Can you post the job please?

I realize a job with nearly 2 billion sheets of plywood will take a few days so the sooner you can get it uploaded the sooner we can take a look at it.

Damon,

You must always nest your material before you use the cost sheet information. You will see that it changes after nest. Save the file and then print the cost sheet.

Correct...before nesting, the number of sheets (and cost) is calculated on square inches only. Only after nesting are the actual number of sheets known.

Damon,
I had this happen last weekend. My job selling price was 105 billion dollars. I removed some display panels and this cured the problem. I am trying to determine if it was the display panels or changing sheet stock that caused the problem.
It is some kind of bug so you might post the job so that Thermwood can look at it,

I tried to post the job, but it timed out on me due to the size of the file. I did not zip the file or is that required to post?

If your job is larger than 16MB (or 8MB zipped), you won't be able to post it.

If you would like to, zip that file up and email it to cabinets@thermwood.com. Once I get the file I will take a look at it and get back with you as soon as I can.

Thank You

Thanks Dan, I found the file size link down at the bottom. I had to zip the file. I tried removing the last cabinets that I installed before the bug, but the bug remains.

I guess I could keep removing stuff in reverse order and keep trying untill maybe it will correct itself.

Kerry, did you just remove display objects or cabinets too?

Damon,
You can email the zipped file to cabinets@thermwood.com and explain to Justin what is going on.

HERE is a link to my two jobs. Allen_test is the job with display panels and improper costing and Pricing_01 is the same job without display panels and correct job costs.

Justin,
Nest the Allen_test job and you will see that it nests only one or two display panels per sheet.

Damon,
I just removed display Panels. These panels had part editor cuts on them and this might have contributed.

Damon,
I Globally changed sheet stock for your job and this corrected the problem. this is definitely something the eCab guys need to look into.

Another note for Justin.
When I change sheet stock, eCabinets always misses some of the parts and I have to change these in the cabinet editor.

Could you send to my email, cabinets@ecabinetsystems.com, the standard cabinets that you added to this room. I would like to have the steps and any size changes as well. I would like to rebuild your room and see if I can get the same results here. I want to build it with your standard cabinets you used in this job. If you have any questions feel free to call me at 1-877-880-4638 ext. 227

Thank You
Justin
