Never had this error before....

Post by Mike Seisser »

I was in the LDE with a mantle assembly and tried selecting my title block to delete it.

This was my 2nd try at dimensioning the mantle, the first time I got everything all set, the title block deleted, but the software crapped out on me while trying to save. (I should have output the .PDF file first. DOH!)

Can anyone help me with this? It's a pretty intense mantle (meaning it has a ton of objects because of moldings/carvings.) I've never really had memory/performance issues with eCabs on this computer before today.

Thanks,

Mike

Will you post this file so I can look at it? You can also email it to me.

Can you give me the specs of your computer? If you have XP go to start>control panel>system in here under the general tab, what are the specs listed on this page? Also I need to know what type of graphics card you have and memory size of that.

I have no problems at all taking the assembly to the LDE, adding dimensions to it, then saving the file.

It only shows 17,468 objects when saving so that shouldn't take much memory at all.

Yup. I figured as much. Any bets on whether or not this gets blamed on my OS?

Thanks for checkin' it out Dan.

Do you have the job with the title block in it? If so would you post it or send it to me? Also when you tried to dimension the mantle how many pages did you have in the LDE?

Justin,

The job wouldn't save. I had the mantle dimensioned (about 15 or so different callouts) and it was the only page. I had trouble with it 2x before I got the error that I posted here, but impatiently force quit eCabs and restarted. (Even cold booted my system once.)

Hey Mike...post your title block so someone else can try to add it to the drawing and save it.

I'm using one that someone else posted here a year or so ago.

Thanks Dan.

Well, that ain't it...I put a bunch of dims and the title block and the job saved in about 3 seconds with about 20,000 objects.

I never even attempted to save it with the title block, I only use it for spacing. I delete it, save the dimensioned drawing as a job file, export a .PDF file, then use a custom title block sized/shaped the same that I've created in Photoshop. (Text is easier to manage and MUCH clearer.)

Funny thing is, I've taken an alternate version of the same mantle, with MORE objects into the LDE, and using the same process that stumped my 'confuser' in the 1st place, successfully gotten it to save. Upwards of 50,000 objects.

My workaround for the one in question was a screen grab paste into Photoshop.

Oh well.

Thanks to you and Justin for looking into this for me.
