Reindeer

Well it's almost time for Christmas and one of my kids wanted to know if I could cut out some of those Reindeer Yard Ornaments on the new Router.
Do any of you out there have a program to cut out Reindeer on the CNC.

I found one on the Internet but it was a dxf file and I down loaded it and tried to open it up on the control. It said the sheet size is set to 0.0000 and I do not know how to open the dxf file and reset the material setting.

Anyway if someone has a twd file, I would like to have a copy.

Can you take the dxf into the Part Editor and apply it to a display panel? That will give you the material then you can create the CNC output and send it to the machine.

I see the kids have already laid claim to the new toy, eh? Just make sure you don't forget to model holes for lights on the ornaments.

Damon, Is it just an outline of a deer? If so and if you have a cad program open it up there and name the outline layer outline z0p* (*= material thickness like outline z0p75 for 3/4 ) and save. Then at the control load the new dxf and when you add sheet it must match the thickness exactly. You may be able to use e-cab by importing the dxf in the part editor and use create part from a closed contour to get a twd file.

Ok Dan, You have to remember I am from Arkandsaw. How do I do what you just said. I can load a 48x96 display panel and take it to the parts editor, then how do I open the DXF??

When I copied the file off the internet, I have a DXF that looks to be written in AFL when I open it in notebook. And then I have two other files that downloaded with it that has a tracing of the cut out , It said it was paint shop. I can open either one with notebook or paintshop, but you will have to step me through the part editor sequence.

After you have the display panel in the part Editor, click the Contour Mode icon. When the Contour Mode screen is displayed, click the \"Load DXF\" icon (file folder). Browse to your file and load it.

Ok, I got the deer loaded on the panel. NOW, I have two parts that say they are not closed contour. I have magnified them and can not find the problem. Is there a easy way to find where the break is??

Dan I forgot, Its the two lower right pieces that are open contour. The rest seem to work ok.

I used my cad program but have done it with c-cabs, choose chain select and click one of the lines, the chain will highlight except where it is broken. Then zoom in and trim. Joe
