Clarification on door height

Post by Stefan Vervloet »

Help :(

I got my cabinet set to 775mm heigh. Door specs Top reveal 10mm Bottom reveal 0mm Frameless. All Gaps between doors and drawers 3mm, but I don't think the gaps matters for a single door cabinet.
Single door is calculated at 762.57mm each time. I wonder how I can get it to make the height 765mm.

Are there some settings I don't kow of that influence this calculation?
Where do these fractoin come from. I tried to get all my settings to work to the nearest .5mm

Stefan.
If you choose \"Purchase Finished' Or \"Purchase Unfinished\" for your doors in the door editor the software will size your door per Conestoga's specifications. Try using Alternate Source for your doors and see what happens.

I'm not sure how you are getting the extra .57mm but with the reveals you are using, the door will be 762mm high (775-10=765, 765-3=762).

AhHa...I see Kerry was posting at the same time as me. I was using a slab door and got the dimensions I listed.

Purchased doors have to comply to the manufacturer's specs for size increments.

I'm using Conestoga, Build in house with a 3mm machining allowance.

Dan, where does the -3 come from in your calculations, is that the door/door/drawer gap? I'm only using 1 single door in this cabinet to try and understand where the numbers are comming from.

Thanks for your help.

Stefan,
Post your cabinet. I get a door 765mm when I follow your settings.

Sorry (not enough coffee yet), I saw the 3mm gaps and entered it as the bottom reveal. Without that I get 765 also.

I always get an even number too, no fractions.

The best bet is to post the cabinet so we can see all of the settings, which door you are using, etc.

I'll post it later tonight, I'm at work now using the old excel sheet to calculate my doors :) I don't have it on this computer.

I tried some more things with the door, no more decimals, but the height is still wrong.
My settings are set to metric, no rounding.
Here's the door, now the height is 775-10 = 763mm :)

Stefan, I dont build frameless so Im not sure about some of the settings but check the size of the sides. I changed the toe kick to 0\" and got the correct size door. Joe

I think Joe found the source of your problem. If you're going "toeless", you have to set toe height and inset to 0 in addition to unchecking "Has Toe."

I tried it with my cabinet, didn't work. Downloaded Joe's, did work.
However I do want a footkick to display in my room layouts, so I think I can not just say detached footkick and put the value a zero or my base cabinets will be flat on the floor (I think). I then tried to put the detached footkick value at 100, (initially 102) and the height of my door became 665! Great!
I must say I do not yet understand what setting is influencing this overall restriction. Either way, detached at 102 or 100, my cabinet stays 775 and I figure my door should stay 665. I know I've got a lot to learn and it's the hardest at startup. For now I'm happy I get the correct height. Just wish I understood why :)

Thanks Joe and Dan!
Great Forum!

Stefan, moving on...

Okay, if you have a value in height and have \"Detached Toe\" checked, the actual cabinet height is the defined cabinet height minus the toe height thus, the openings for doors will change accordingly.

For example, if your defined cabinet height is 775mm and you have a 127mm detached toe, the actual cabinet height is 648mm (775-127).

Now, to get the maximum height for an inset door, subtract the thickness of the top and deck from that number. For an overlay door the maximum height is the same as the actual cabinet height.
