Error 80090016 during CrypAcquireContect!

Post by Richard Norris »

Hello,
I am a lab manager at NCSU. We have a teacher who plans on teaching students how to use Ecabinet. I have been trying to install ecabinets 5.1 and every thing works until I try to create a twd. I get an error 80090016 during CryptAcquireContect!. I read online that you need to run daoinstall.exe and thmcrypt.exe to fix this. I found if I ran those prior to the install the issue was resolved....to a point...If I log in as another user the fix does stay. Also in some cases if I reboot and log back in as me the fix does not stay. Is There a batch files that I can run to reset Ecabinets to work for each person. Thanks -Richard

Some things we may need to know:

What operating system are you running on?
Do ALL users have administrator rights? (they need to before running anything)

From what I remember, the \"CryptAcquireContect\" error is usually fixed by running the thmcrypt.exe.
I believe the \"daoinstall.exe\" was used for the \"Failed to create empty document\" error.

Thanks for the quick reply. The systems are Windows XP sp2. They are in an active directory enviroment. We give all users Full access to the Thermwood program files which seems to get around the administrator rights...and the issue happens with administrators also ...so I am thinking if I can find a way to fix for administrators it will probably work for users too. One thing I notice...when I run the thmcrypt.exe ..sometimes it appears to blink a dos screen...no text and sometime I can see a quick text output...I can't tell what the text is saying but I feel the non text must not be applying anything since it seems to me that when I get the non text I keep getting the error. Again thanks for the help. -Richard

Try deleting the sub-directories in this directory, then run thmcrypt.exe again.

C:\\Documents and Settings\\UserName\\Application Data\\Microsoft\\Crypto\\RSA
