Re-sizeable face frame bead

Post by Kevin Gratwick »

I frequently use beaded face frames with inset doors on my cabinets. This cabinet file is a resizeable 7/16" frame with mitered corners and a bead profile.

All you need to do is figure out your opening size in your cabinet using the face frame editor, load the bead file and size it using the cabinet width and height fields, then align the bead to the face frame of your cabinet. I put constraints on the chamfers which allows the bead to be resized and still keep the 45 degree miters. You set the gap parameters in the door/drawer face construction settings to account for the additional 7/16" from the addition of the bead. It seems to be a quick method for doing beaded face frames with inset doors. I'm sure others are using this same method, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to share.

What's it do to your cutting lists for the faceframe parts?
