Warm up Program
Hey Hows it going?
Im rewriting another warm up program for the themwood. (after i deleted by mistake!) And was wondering if there was a G or M code that does a timer? Like i want it 2 run for 15 mins then once the times up it returns home ready to run.
Thanks

Re: Warm up Program
Hi Thom,
Yes, there is the Pause code which can simply pause the controller for the number of seconds you wish to pause.
G04F# (# = Seconds)
Once the number of seconds has been counted, the control will advance to the next line of code.

Re: Warm up Program
I make mine to ramp up as well. I run for 2 minutes each at 2000, 4000, 6000, 8000, 10,000 and 1 minute each at 14,000 and 18,000 RPM.
12 minutes warm up time allows my operators just enough time to do daily maintenance prior to running.
I also make sure the head is in the center of the table and halfway down the Z stroke which allows easy access to all grease zerks so maintenance can get done at the same time as the warm up.
I also have a grease/oiler program that runs all axis' over their full travel lengths for 15 minutes as well. I do this because not everything we cut has the machine extend to full travel, which means that the ways, rails screws and gears are not getting oiled/greased fully. Once per week I run all machines with this program to make. Looks a little silly having the machine run around itself, but it helps me know that there is lube on ALL parts that need it.

Re: Warm up Program
I will get it to you guys early next week. Both the warm up and the oiler program. I am working from home today so I don't have access to them. But Monday or Tuesday I will get them out to you. Do you guys have 3 axis or 5 axis machines? I have programs for both.

Re: Warm up Program
ok, Michael, you satrted something here, I like your warm up program also, I have a cs45 5x10. I would appreciate that warm up if you dont mind. I am surprised that Thermwood doesnt include something like that?I usually just start the program and then hit the stop block button and let the spindle run 4 or 5 min. before it plunges to start cutting.

Re: Warm up Program
Did I miss something at training? Why do you need a warm up program? As far as oiling goes ours oils to much, I'm always wiping oil off the machine sides.
