Saw this advert in my States major newspaper from a firm that normally make built in robes. Now they have a new division selling modular kitchen which I suspect are coming in from China. They also will be in flat pack form. They allow you to design online then create a quote.
Here is the web site if your interested how they market the product on line. http://www.flexidiy.com.au/
I know Ken has written a few books about the furniture industry demise to Asia but the next wave looks like the Kitchen area?
Could Ecabinets software be enhanced to allow us to forward people to a Ecabinets web site. When people are forwarded from our web site to Ecabinets design site, could not quotes be generated reflecting our pricing structure? We get the leads and they get a cabinet quote with a design they have done. This then puts us on a more level footing to offer these kitchens fully assembled or to a flat pack standard?
Having the ability to do custom sizes and finishes would give us hopefully a edge over the imports.
The advantage to Thermwood is that it would be enhancing its customers to be more effective against imports and then able to purchase more Thermwoods.
Regards
Neville

Re: Using the internet to market kitchens
Hi Neville
I'm in Adelaide, and we have 3 companies here that sell China kitchens made to order in 6 weeks. we had a few enquieries from people that went there and
bought a kitchen if we can come and finish them. The company takes your deposit delivers a kitchen takes your money and the installer comes
and starts something goes wrong and nobody wants to know about it. We have finished 15 kitchens now, I do it to help those people out but at the sametime
we don't like it. I have been advertising that we make our kitchens in Australia from Australian Products we need to educate those people.
Thanks Fred

We've been getting the same thing here in New Zealand.Read an article recently about Chinese kitchens and apparently the Formaldahide levels in there carcass whiteboard is huge.Something you may want to research and pass onto your clients when they are thinking of buying a chinese kitchen !
