Hi guys
When the job has been sent to the router how do you give instructions on what tool to use for cutting the carcass. In the program you can only give tools for the centre and the edge of the panel as the panel is made to size with the dimensions.
At the moment we use a specific tool which in our case is tool 7. so when the job is sent to the router it will use tool 7 to cut around the part, and as I said before I cant do this in part edidtor as you can only give tools to that part.
Thanks
Leigh

Re: Cutting on carcass
Hi, Leigh,
Tools are setup at the machine in Control Nesting. The "tools" that you are using in the part editor are not actually tools; they are shapes or profiles. The shapes are recognized by the profile modeler at the control as regions and the tooling is setup to cut those regions in the profile modeler. A region is assigned a tooling group or a specific router bit. Control nesting assigns tools based upon the feature, i.e., perimeter, drilling, pocketing, etc. For your question, in the Tool Setup you would setup Tool #7 or whatever tool for the outline cut, as well as the feedrates and spindle speed. Then you would continue to assign tools to the various other operations.
Both Control Nesting and the Profile Modeler are reviewed in the training class and documentation is provided. The documentation is posted on http://www.thermwood.com if you do not have it. Also, give Thermwood's support line a call. They can help you out quicker.
