Hardware hole editor
I am curious as to how to associate a pattern to a part that has been cut in the part editor. I want to associate KD/RTA fasteners to the top and side of this cabinet. I have not formed the sides, or deck yet, but I think you can get the idea I am after from looking at the top. This is an area I have not figured out yet.
Thanks,
Damon
Thanks,
Damon

Re: Hardware hole editor
Can you not specify a KD for the joint in the "Constuction settings"?

Re: Hardware hole editor
Nick, I honestly don't know. This is foreign ground for me. I have taken the cabinet and used the part editor to create the top and deck. Inset the back to line up and then used display panels to create the new sides. The question I am after is, Can you take a top and a display panel and then go to the hole editor and associate the hole pattern to the mating parts. I have an Octagon cabinet system I have to build and I am still trying to figure this thing out. We are taking it to New York, and it will have to be assymbled on site. This is the reason for the Kd/RTA fasteners.
Here is a better image if what I am after.

Re: Hardware hole editor
I have found that I can use a stetcher rather than the display board for the side but I do not see all the holes on the parts. The Housing hole is there but the hole for the pin is not there.

Re: Hardware hole editor
Damon,
I have yet to figure out if KD "joints/hole patterns" will work on a display panel.. I'm pretty sure they do not. Stretcher work with some anomolies (but you already figured that out). I have in the past used display panels and just manually put the kd hardware holes in both parts (sides of the joint) with part editor.
Also, are the dowel holes appearing on any of the joints properly? Did you draw these hole patterns yourself or are they the one pre-installed with software. I've never had that behavior before where one side would show and other would not. I have however had some problems with kd holes on stretchers that butt up against a joint and it refuses to put the hardware holes in.. For example I've seen where a left right stretcher that butt up against top will have the KD on the sides, but not top. I double back to make sure KD is specified for all sides of stretcher and it refuses to put the KD hardware in there. Other cabs it works fine and KD is properly calculated for all parts. My gut tells me it is a math issue and sometimes moving a stretcher by a 1/1000 will make the KD joint calculate properly. I'm sorry I don't have more specifics but I honestly don't know what I've done where some work and others do not.

Re: Hardware hole editor
Fred, The socket holes are there but the dowel holes are not. I haven't tried moving the stretcher yet. That could be the problem if it is off just a little. Thanks for the information. I am going to keep on trying to figure this one out.

Hi Damon
I am not sure if this what you are looking for
This made of 2 cabinets
1-full cabinet
2-R&S
I put it all in a Zip file step by step how I did it and the cabinet file.
15" x 21" Wolf Steamer

Re: Hardware hole editor
George, you are "Tha Man". I didn't use two cabinets but it got me to thinking. I used a corner cabinet and then adjusted the corner gap until I got the desired size. I will say this, unless I am looking at something incorrect, the corner cabinet sizing is screwed up a little. If you take the left back or the right back and input your size, it does not account for the corner gap. You have to add it back in there to get the correct size. It would be great if you could just click the left back or right back measurement and the corner gap would take care of itself. In my case the left back might be 32", but it is calling it 65" ( These numbers are hypothetical, I don't remember the exact numbers).
But anyway, thanks for the help. Just goes to prove you can achieve most anything with this software, you just have to think outside the box sometimes.

Ha! I love it George! Great job.
P.S... bet you knew this was coming: Where'd you get the machine, and can you share it? Would be handy for laying out a shop.
