Panel Weight for Database Suggestion

Post by Joe Dusel »

I think it would be nice if there were a weight field in the materials database section for panels so that we could automatically calculate the overall shipping weight of a job and also have weights displayed on a per cabinet basis in the cut lists. Who else would like something like that?

That's an interesting idea Joe, never thought of that one. Can't say I'd want to see it before lots of other things, but eventually it would be a cool addition. Seems like it'd be a pretty simple addition though. Maybe then we could charge for cabinets by the pound? :D

I thought of this idea based on schlepping a huge entertainment center to a client's home this week. I think this would be a great idea for anyone who is involved in the production sharing that has to ship cabinets.

I agree the concept has a lot of value, whether you are talking about fully-assembled or RTA pieces. Execution could get complicated, with material weights varying quite a bit, hardware, etc. Good idea though.
