Hi,
I have been trying to edit the labels for both eCabinets and for the router, for me to do this I have had to use Crystal Reports. At the moment I have successfully managed to input most of the information needed, but there is one field that I am unable to get any great detail from, this is the Edge Banding.
We are having to use the Edge Banding image at the moment, which does ok, as it tells which side to edge. But this isn’t enough detail for us to use as on some parts we could have a Beech back and a specified colour front such as Montana.
The information needed for the labels to work is created through Microsoft Access, which is saved as "result", this information though doesn’t have the relevant fields within the database (Access), so I am unable to retrieve the edge banding information.
I would attempt to input these fields into the database but I believe this won’t work, as this is because eCabinets over-rights the "result" each time the labels are being processed, so anything changed in the database will be over-written.
So does anybody know of a way to get to the results of which eCabinets is throwing into the Database? This way I could probably pull the relevant information from the "Edge Banding Editor". Or maybe there is an easier way off getting text information for the edge banging.
There must be some sort of way, or there isn’t much point of adding different materials for the edge banding within the "Edge Banding Editor".
So if anybody knows of a way, or has already played around with the output of the labels, it would be good to know.
Thanks,
Leigh Mills

Re: Editing Label?
This is an image of how I have got our labels looking so far. The edge banding bit map is ok but it doesnt display enough detail, when exporting a cut list to Excel you can see that all the information for the edge banding is in "Sheet Component listing" under coloumn "F".
As you can see, this is the sort of detail that we need to display which is visible in Excel from the cut list:-
The problem with the edge banding bit map is that people dont know what type of edge banding to apply, for exmple they dont know if it is to be a beech edge or a beech pvc edge. So this will be very confusing for the guys in the factory.
As I mentioned in my previous post, I wasnt able to input anything into the database and this information isnt currently there. So is there a way of getting this information into the database("result").
Thanks,
Leigh Mills

This is with edge banding on all four sides, and this is the type of information that needs to pass to the shop floor.Back Banding: Montana Oak Front Banding: Montana Oak PVC Edge Left Banding: Montana Oak Right Banding: Montana Oak

Re: Editing Label?
Hi Thom,
Have you you used Crystal Reports before? The file which needs changing for the eCabinet output is the "5366 Avery Labels" this is located in "eCabinet Systems\doors\Conestogaz".
From the machine you will need to edit other labels, if you dont have Crystal reports loaded at the machine you will have to copy the files and take them to a computer with Crystal Reports, then copy then back over. This is difficult as you dont have the database so you cant print preview. (This is how I have had to do it)
The files are: LABELS_All and LABELS_Barcode. If I remeber correctly you will find these in the C Drive under rolling nesting at the machine.
I have all these labels on my PC, so what I do is make a change to the eCab file then print preview, to see how they look. then I will make these changes to the machine files, this way you know what the labels will look like at the machine.
When you have finished just replace the two files with those that you have edited, make sure you save the originals.
Let me know if you need anymore help.
Thanks,
Leigh Mills
