Pre Hung Doors

Post by Thom Davies »

How's it going?

Is there any1 who uses their Thermwood to door pre hung doors? I know we can do the hinges in the jambs easy enough. But can we do the hinges in the door it self? I have a CS40 so its only a 3 axis. Is there an attachment or tool that we could buy to do the door hinge?

Thanks

Hi Thom. The answer is yes, there is a right angle holder which would allow you to machine the door edge. You would probably also have to raise the door up off the table using vacuum pods or some such

Can some 1 from thermwood give me an idea how much this right angle tool costs? and is it a drill bank tool or a router tool?

Thanks

Thom,

You need to contact Dan Lopez at 1-800-221-3865. He will be able to quote you a price on retrofitting either a drill bank with horizontal drills or a horizontal aggregate tool.

Both mastercam and manual programming will work well for these types of operations. Which is better depends on your personal preference and the doors. If you do alot of doors where the dimensions never change then mastercam can create the file once and you never mess with it. If the door dimensions are always changing and you need flexability, you may want to look into doing a program in AFL that asks for dimensions and pocket offsets and then it calculates it's own positioning.
