Can't edit/change HSF's or STL's

Post by Joe Harkin »

I cannot seem to get Display Part Editor to where an HSF (or STL) file can be edited. The part will load and can be rotated or resized (as one unit) but I can't select just ont component to adjust. So far tried about every combination of mouse button/clicking - no joy.
STL files load but show just an all black 3D object - again can rotate, etc, but nothing else. :wall: :wall:
George D. Thanke for the WhisperRide HSF. It looks great but I cant adjust it. It looks like it's got 15 separate parts, but I cant highlite/select any one to modify it. Same with several other HSF's I tried.
Not critical to this project, but I would like to get better at these things for future use.......
Any ideas, anybody?

Joe,
With your model in the Display Part Editor, Right click on a part and the part number will change in the upper left corner of your screen, You are now editing that part.

Thanks, Kerry. I see that does work but all I can seem to do is change the color/texture etc of the selected part. Is it possible to resize or reposition individual parts in the Editor? Can't find a combo to do that.

Joe,

As far as I know you can't scale individual parts but you can move them by right clicking on the part then use the drop down menu under Operator to move the part in the x, y, axis or the z axis or rotate the part. (use the f6,7,8, keys to speed this up.

I never could get the parts where I wanted them where I wanted them doing this so I use another method. I save the individual parts as display objects and then take them into the cabinet editor one by one where I scale them and assemble them. Once you have things the way you want them you can selct all and export them into the Display part editor where you change the new assembly into a Display object.
