Switch to turn on vacuum

Post by Neville Bastian »

I have just added a sorting bench at the end of the Thermwood.
The pushing bar pushes the sheet that has been cut onto this sorting bed.
The new sheets are loaded from the switch side of the machine which is the 0,0 point and has the positioning levers.
The problem has surfaced now that to position the sheet the operator has to walk 3.6m or 12 ft around my sorting table to position sheet and turn on the vacuum then return to controller which on the 3600,1800 position or diagonally opposite the vacuum switch. I can't relocate the controller because the edge-bander is on the controller side and that's how production runs.
My question is can I have two switch controllers. One where it is now then another at the point closest the controller? If the tech boys could explain it in detail I then can run it past my local pneumatics supplier.

The other question which is not really a Thermwood question. Can you switch the air pumps on from the controller without spending a fortune on a electrician. The on off switch for my two pumps is 8m 30ft away. I had thought a wireless controller like a electric Garage roller door setup would be the go. If I could have the correct terms I can then explain what I want rather than be given something that is problematic.

Regards

Neville

Hi Neville. We have done this and mounted switches for both extractor and Vac on the controller face. Not very expensive just a little 15amp flex and an on/off push switch
