Thermwood Door Editor

Post by Joe Dusel »

Is there any chance that the Door Editor might be updated for Version 6? It would be really nice to be able to be creative with the doors and drawer fronts to have mid-rails and stiles (similar to the faceframe editor), glass panels and open frames (like the Conestoga doors) and maybe a different material selection for the panels. Having the doors panel material selection would be especially nice if we are simulating grill cloth or some other special panel.

Thanks,

Joe

Hey this is a great idea. The potential here is unlimited and is only just touched on. If you compare what the software can do with carving and dovetail joints, the door program could chuck out so innovative work our non Thermwood competitors would at a big disadvantage. Maybe these designs could be shared and we could then produce sample doors with all the variations available to potential clients. The trick here though is speed. We want it detailed but fast. You can't have the Thermwood spending more than 2 hours doing a kitchen lot of doors. It needs to use logic in using the biggest material removal router bits rather than use ball head router bits to achieve the result.
The full range of doors in the largest US door manufacturer would be the goal for starters.

Well, I heard it's now going to happen for a while. So, in the mean time I guess we have to make custom doors the hard way using the Faceframe Editor. The attached door has 4" rails and stiles, 3" mid-rails and glass panels.
