Hey guys its starting to get cold over here and I'm starting to play the acoustic guitar again after a break of 10 years(something to do other than ecabs on those cold wet days)I've borrowed a peice of */# from a well meaning friend but it doesn't quite cut it.Have been looking around for a second hand Martin D28 six string or similar model .So my question is how much are they worth over there for something in good condition & does anyone know of one for sale

I guess I am a guitar player but I don't play much any more. It seems like everytime I get a guitar I end up giving it to one of my kids. It just seems like they would get more use from it than I do. But I used to be a lead guitarist in a rock band in the 70's and you couldn't get that thing out of my hands in those days. I later learned to make music with a PC and Cakewalk Sonar. I learned a lot from doing that. But now I spend so much time with eCabinets and CAD programs that hardly ever get back to that either.

But I guess I can never rule out that those old flames may erupt and get me going again. I still have Cakewalk and an old Alverez acoustic guitar.

I used to dream about having a Martin though.
Not really sure what they are worth. I guess it depends on the year it was made and how hard they are to find.

Check out eBay...I just did a quick check and found D28s ranging from about $2000-$10,000+ USD.

I play with a couple Hohner Dr550s(one acoustic/electric with bronze strings the other with nylon for fingerpicking) beautiful rich sound,incredible action and plain gorgious to look at!They are reletively cheap,I got my first one a few years ago for $300 to use as a "camp guitar" and it ended up being my main axe acoustically(i use a 72 Gibson Les Paul electrically).

I don't even know what a good guitar would be anymore. In the 70's we were always looking for a Martin built in the 40's (or an old Gibson Dove or Hummingbird) but just because you found one that was "Vintage" didn't mean it would sound good. There were some great ones and there were some that were just old. I think the same holds true today. You just have to hunt till you find one you really like. I was also told by a luthier many years ago that if a great guitar sits unused in the case for several years the wood "Dies" and it can lose it's warmth. I don't know if that is true but I have played some old guitars that were stored for a long time that sounded pretty bad. Keep Hunting.

Hey Keith.I had a 76 lez paul custom jet black ,ebony fretboard, pearl inlay.Awsome guitar wish I had never sold it.Have a Ibanez delux 59er but haven't touched it in years.Still want my Martin! must be old age but don't get too excited about electric anymore .Yee-gads never thought I'd say that
