They are not the same. The CAT30 tapers are utilized for CNC mills, not routers. I don't think the CAT30 tapers have the threads at the end of the taper for the retention knob

The CS40 model is still available, and there are no limitations other than it is a little slower than the CS43 model, and the floor space you mentioned. The CS40 demand has been reduced somewhat since one can buy the CS43 for much money and has better performance.
