corner cabinet shelf holes

I know from reading various posts that we've had some problems with shelf holes...this is one I ran across this morning.

For some reason it is only the right side that has the holes on the wrong side of the sheet. Dados are correct

Any help out there or is this one for the list?

Hey Mark, that's so you can save materials (end panel) when you join the corner unit to the straight units

Thanks Dan....that's what I needed was someone to put a smile on my face today!

But truly - after I made the post earlier...I did think since it does have a cabinet on that side I would just make sure the depth of the holes went all the way through the material

Well, that solves the problem but it doesn't answer the question of why it happened to begin with.

Okay...now get this

the illustration shows the holes on the outside of the cabinet, with the dados being correct on the inside of the cabinet.

When I nest the cabinet (in ecabinets and/or on the router) the dado's show up as the flip op - not the holes.

Are you using a different material for the side--a single sided material maybe?

Did you do anything else to that side, like part editor cuts or anything?

I know the answer to both of these is probably no but I'm just grasping at straws to see if I can figure out what is happening.

Post the cabinet so I can look at it.

Leave it as a standalone cabinet and you can put live animals in there.

How did you do the shelf holes?

On my uppers, I always add the first shelf with shelf holes - leaving no holes below and adding 20 +/- above depending on the size of the cabinet. Then I place the shelf 1.25\" from the deck. Balance of shelves, if any, are then placed without holes.

Is that what your looking for...?

I figured out what happened--it is the old face frame bug with a new look.

Turn face frames off and back on then add your door back and it will be okay.

You might want to send the bad cabinet to cabinets@thermwood.com so they can take a look at it to see the new face frame problem.

Actually Dan it was the scribe on the face frames...followed your instructions - except I added my usual 1/4\" scribe to each side and the holes were still there. Went back in and took the scribe out and the holes disappeared....

why only the right side and not the left?

Any further suggestions?

same thing worked on the original cabinet - simply remove the face frame scribe and the holes disappear.

Try turning off the \"Miter face frames\" option since you are using a scribe. The miter option moves the stile location somehow and may conflict with scribe settings.
