Help on window Valances

Post by George Davidson »

I have made a valance out of a upper std (F.L.cab) (with just the back panel)
When I bring the S.V. in the custom room it will stop to the next cab
that works good. When I bring a round top in the custom room
it will not stop at the next cab. it will keep going.
Why would one work and not the other one :?:

George Davidson,

Did you \"expand to fit\" this SV for this to happen?

Thanks.

Hi Michael
When I had the sides on the back was 28 1/2\"
then I took the sides off the back went to 30\".
It is funny why the one will lock on the the cab.
but the half round will not lock on to the cab.

Hey George, I've been playing around with your valance concept and I'm using a 6\" faceframe which expands to fill properly, but after it re-sizes it places back from the front of the cab about 10\". Bug?

Ok now this is weird. I have move increment set at 1/8\", I hilite the part hit shift and the down key, the part jumps to the front of the cab and past 1/8\" . So I press the up key and it goes up 1/8\" and into proper position.

George, Rick,
I tried the valance using Rick's method of the 6\" top Rail, I toggled the overlap on the construction and mine positions fine and re-sizes fine but loses the part editor cuts when it re-sizes.

Kerry, I have my cut constrained, and I've tried placing it multiple times and now after the resize it still places back from the front of the cab, but now when I press shift>down it jumps to the front, into proper position even though the move increment is set at 1/8\". :?:

Rick,
Make sure your insert method is \"Free Style\" when you try to move it. It should place properly using align to back if the valance cabinet is the same depth as the other uppers but you will have to switch to free style to move it by increment.

I set the depth the same as the cabs and with align to front or back it works ( same as 3/4\" deep valance with align to front) the problem is when you expand to fill. The expanding part works fine, it just changes position after. As for freestyle, I think the whole idea is to get away from placing in that manner.

Rick,
Mine behaves the same as yours when using the expand to fill. It will jump back to the front. I was just saying that for it to move in 1/8\" increments it can't be on align to back, front or center, it must be in free style, otherwise it will snap into position when you move it.
I think the fact tht it moves back when using expand to fill is a bug.

Rick,
Try placing yours between two cabinet that are close enough that eCabinets asks to auto re-size and see if you lose the part editor cuts.

That proves that you do learn something new everyday. I was under the impression that the item only moved to what the increment was set at regardless what place mode you were in.

Why I made them out of a upper std cabinet the valance. Is from the back panel of the cabinet that way I could put them right in the custom room and set it in place.I bring the back 11 1/4\" in
The left is a straight valance and the right is a cut out valance.
The cut out valance locks to the wall but will not lock on to the cabinet

Kerry, after closing the software and restarting, everything works fine now. Constraints hold, resize is good and placement is proper.
