bug with stretchers

Post by Mark Taylor »

In my cabinet construction I use stretchers set to the back of the cabinet and dadoed into the sides of the cabinet as nailers. With the new version I've slowly been getting around to updating my seed cabinets. Anyway, I starting working on the changes I wanted to make and one of them was to use the face frame dados for the cabinet sides (previously we set a -.25 front inset) however whenever I try to set side dado's into the front face frame the back stretchers move in. I can not get them flush back out by using the stretcher adjustment...I've tried deleting them and adding them back in - same result

I've attached one of the offending cabinets...if you would please take a look at it and see if it's a bug or if I'm missing something...

Thanks
Mark

Hey Mark, I set inset #4 to 1/4\" and locked it. It seems to work ok now.

Rick, I've tried locking it at \"0\" but it still wants to move in...the stretcher looks flush with the back in yours, why would it be set at 1/4\" instead of zero?

I tried setting it at zero the first time and got the same results. (hence the 1/4\" inset). It probably has something to do with the dado configuration.

I have spoke with the programmers and they are going to take care of this. For right now I have a way around it. Take the full dados off the left and right fronts. Then go into the stretcher editor, adjsut the top stretcher, inset 4= 0 and then lock it and inset 1= 0 and lock it. Then do the same to the bottom. Once this is done go back to the main and go to the construction settings. Click on the left end and right end and change the fronts to full dados. Now this will place everything where you want it. You can still change the height width and depth and everything will adjust correctly. If you go back into the stretcher editor it will cause some issues and the stretchers will get messed up again. Once they are set I would leave them alone and they will stay int he correct position. If you have any questions feel free to call me at 1-800-533-6901 ext. 227

Thank you
