Flip Op Stops

I have an older(1999) Model 40 and don't have pop-up pins. I try to avoid flip op's but can't always. I need to build some sort of corner stop fence that will be accurate enough for this. Any ideas or suggestions? Maybe some pictures of other machines...

Hey Brian,
I probably dont understand exactly what you need, but could you not just buy the aluminum locator brackets, mount them to machine bed and then buy the flip op fence that thermwood currently uses? I am betting the retrofit dept. at thermwood has figured this out many times.

Brian,

We certainly can retrofit an alum. locating system to your machine. The system would bolt to the sides of your table, providing an accurate, fixed locating position for flip op or finished part machining. If you interested in purchasing this setup, you can call into Thermwood and ask for Retrofit dept. and the operator will direct you to the corret people here.

Thanks guys, I didn't know they offered such a thing. I thought it was all done with pop-up pins. I'll check it out.

Hi Brian. I cut a flip-op fence out of nylon or polyprop or Tufnol or somesuch. I had the CS 40 cut it in location clipped onto the corner of the table with downstands so it is accurate. Simple and cheap or cheap and nasty depending on your point of view.

What does it look like?

I have the ones Ryan is talking about but they get in the way when I fly cut so i have to remove them and then reinstall.

Also for us people North of the equator, what is a \"downstands\", My dictionary must have missed that one.

My daughter is heading down to Australia and New Zealand this summer on a Mission trip so she has been studying the lingo. What is common here is not so common there and vice versa.

Hey Thom,
She will be in Sydney for almost 4 weeks and then over to NZ for another almost 4 weeks but will be based in Auckland. She will have some free time to enjoy the island but not sure what she will do yet. I keep hearing about white watering but I'll find out more later. Any suggestions that are safe?

What is the Roturua in Auckland?

OK guys I finally got into gear and snapped some pics. The fence I have made you will notice has pieces that go down vertically (downstands) allowing one to locate it onto the edge of the table. Notice also the little pop up pins I have bolted onto the edge of the table. These are relatively cheap pneumatic pistons which I am also using to locate parts but am still refining the workings.
