Expanding floor

Post by Jean G Voyer »

I have a kitchen that will sit in between 3 walls and over. The width of the room is 110\" with a back wall, the left wall is 54\" long and the right wall is 60\" long.
The area is all open space around the walls. The kitchen is a 'U' shape kitchen and because of the small area the cabinets are going further than the floor area.
When I create the room for the custom layout the floor doesn't go far enough width wise and length wise.
How can I expand the floor without changing the walls?

You may try placing a very short wall behind the existing walls. Then, when you render the room, 1) choose an angle that will not show the shorter wall(s), OR 2) Hide the shorter walls.

Thanks Al.
I tried that before but I didn't like the little wall remnant.
But right now I tried something else by creating a wall at 0\" value and it worked. I hope nothing strange will happen.

Terrific, Jean!

I am not sure what you mean by "wall remnant". In the next two images I have hidden the 1-inch wall that is farthest from the origin, and all seems ok.

Al,

I know what you mean that you can hide them but they always come back when you reload the job.
Try the 0\" height for the wall. So far it's great because you don't have to do anything about it. They just don't show.

Could you not run your walls wild and then make a full height cutout in the wall?
