Edgebanding Display Panels

Post by Jay Waters »

I'm doing a job now where I need to edgeband some display panels. Is this possible? I've tried to do this via the edgebanding button, but have had no luck with it so far. Anyone have a workaround to do this?
Thanks,

Hi Jay,
dont beleive you can edgeband display panels, the only workaround I can think of would be to create a material the thickness of your edgebanding. Then pull up your display panel in the cabinet editor, then create another display panel of the appropriate sizeout of your edgebanding material you have created, load it and position it,then save as an assembly. There are other ways of creating thick edge or drop edge shelves, but I dont beleive this is what your wanting.

Thanks Michael,

That's a good idea, but not exactly what I was looking for. I'm doing some commercial laminate casework, and I'm attempting to design a desk where it has small pencil like drawers underneath and you can sit underneath it with a chair (open underneath and attached to the wall at the back, cabinet approximately 4\" high.) I need to bridge between the doors with a faceframe like panel which will have to be banded on a few edges. Right now I've attached a display panel and will just have to remind myself to allow for edgebanding I guess. Sure would be a great feature to implement in the future I would think! I've attached a picture so you could see what I'm attempting to do.

Load a door panel in the material you want and that will have the edgebanding allowances you specify

Thanks guys. Many times I (maybe we) get so wrapped up in finding a solution it eludes us because we're too close to it. That's a great suggestion Nick. Thanks for the help fellows.

Although, it would be nice to be able to specify which edge(s) you wanted. I don't need all 4 edges banded on this situation, just 2 to 3 edges here. Oh well, can't complain the software has allowed me to do things I never would have been able to accomplish in the first place.
