In other words, the best appropriate API's out there make eCabinet Systems a true state-of-the art software program.

If only the PC hardware manufacturers would catch up. ;)
Thanks, Michael! I needed this type of background to understand the stuff under the hood a little better.

George,

I tried several times, with and without other apps running.

My times to open the file from within eCabs: 29.8 seconds with nothing else running, to 35.7 seconds with two versions of the browser running. (Dell M90 laptop, 2 GB RAM, NVIDIA Quadro FX 2500M with 512 MB dedicated memory...). I am taking a memory hit by running a second 17-inch wide-format display. So, I will have to try this without extending the Windows real estate to the second display.

NOTE: Once open, I was not able to do anything with the job. I gave up trying, as the program was still running but refreshing the screen by itself. I was busy with other stuff, so I just shut down, to stay busy and not be waiting on your job  8) .
