How to save my cabinet designs?

Post by Aaron Clements »

Hello

This may seem like a dumb question. But, I cannot figure out how or where to save my cabinet design to. I am brand new to the program, and do not follow the saving system.
I understand that there are two modes of saving something. "Save Cabinet / Assembly" on the lower bar of main page. And "Save As" or (Save Job) on the file menu, and upper bar of the main page.
When I try to save a cabinet in the "Save Cabinet / Assembly" box, I get an error message saying, "Cabinets cannot be saved in the standard cabinet directory"
There are no other options on the drop dowm tab for "Directories" other than "Standard Cabinets"
I know there must be something very basic and simple I'm missing.
My goal is to design a few simple cabinets, and make mysels a library of cabinets I can use in the future which suit my needs.

Can anyone help me get started?

Thank you

Simply key in the name for your folder to save the cabinets in. Next time it will be in the dropdown.

Aaron,

When you go to the Save Cabinets/Assemblies area, it defaults to the Standard directory. If you click in the Standard bar you can (clear out the Standard name and) then type in a new directory name. At that point you have Your directory to begin a library in. You cannot save modified cabinets in the Standard directory.

Thanks,

When you want to save your job designs you have to create the folder jobs since this one doesn't exist originally. You can put that folder inside the ecab directory if you want.

Hi, thanks for the help so far...

I creted a new directory, saved my cabinet in the new directory, but when I come back to open it later, there is nothing there.
If however I look through my computer, in the C drive / Programs / Thermwood / Cabinets , I'll find my folder and actually see an image of my cabinet in a small viewer.
When I installed the eCabinet CD onto my computer I saw a brief error message saying that Adobe Acrobat Reader was not installed correctly.
I'm wondwring how that may be effecting my program and is that Adobe Reader critical to the system.
Should I re-install the CD again?

If the Load item dialog is showing Standard Cabinets, click the "Back" button then select the directory you just created.

Hi

OK, that works, thank you for the tips.

I'm sure I'll be back with more questions once I get rolling.
