I've just recently gotten the eCabinet program. It does twist an old mans brain in shapes it's not accustomed to, but, over all I think I'll survive.
I have run into a stump though. Most of my work incorporates stained glass inserts in the doors or someplace in the cabiinet. I'd like to be able to design the actual panel in my stained glass program and then insert it into the eCabinet drawings for the ultimate presentation. I’ve been able to sort through the most of the program quite easily, however, I don’t find any information as to how to do this. Is it even possible? I can save the panels in a “jpg” format.
You can certainly do what you want by copying the JPG to C:\Program Files\Thermwood\eCabinet Systems\materials\ImportedImages.
After you copy the file to that location, you will want to create a display cube of the size you need and select an image to display on it. You will want to experiment with tiled and stretched versions of the image to see which gives you the best results.
Here is an example using a screen capture of one of the eCabinets dialogs for the "inlay." I used a 12x12x.25 display cube and stretched the image on it. I moved the display cube into location and associated it to the cabinet--this is important...if you don't assiciate to the cabinet, the display cube will be lost when you save the cabinet.
I include Leadlight Panels in a lot of my work, place Conestoga Glass Doors where you like your stained glass to be, create Jpegs like Dan said and download them to the Import folder, then create Display cubes with your Glass I make it just a bit bigger than the inside of my door and about 6mm thick
and place behind the Doorframe you have to place it going into side view and front view. sorry but I dont know how to attach apicture here.
Just click the "Upload Attachment" tab below, browse to find the file you want to upload and click the "Add File" button. Make sure the dimensions are no larger than 800x600.
You can also place the image within the body of the post (as I did here) by clicking the "Place Inline" button after the file had been added.
There is little you can't accomplish with eCabinets. Sometimes you have to be pretty creative in your thought process but you can usually get the look you are after.
I like the look of your cabinet, do you make your stained glass or do you buy it , we use a lot of Leadlight in our furniture and a friend of ours makes it.
