Regarding hole patterns, it would be wise to review the patterns that you will be using in the Hardware Hole Editor. For example, if you were to review a few of the patterns for drawer guides, you'd find that most have been drawn to include every possible hole for the guide. You probably only need two or maybe three, but it shows 20 plus. Another thing to look for in a drawer guide pattern is the position of the pattern. Understanding the location of the hole pattern in relationship to the x axis is important. When a drawer is installed, there is value entered for the placement of the slide noted as "Slide Distance from Bottom". If the holes are drawn on the X axis line (as some are) and you set the distance to "0" the holes will be centered exactly at the bottom of the drawer box. If the distance was set to 1", the hole pattern would move up 1". For a standard slide with the mounting holes centered along the length of the slide, if the hole pattern had been drawn above the x axis by the distance from the bottom of the slide to the hole and the "slide distance" set to "0", the hole pattern will locate on the cabinet correctly so that the bottom of the drawer guide is aligned with the bottom of the drawer box.
Most of the holes patterns that come with the software need work. As Dennis said, some of the hole patterns that come with the slides have about 20 extra holes. Not only that, some of them are in the wrong positions (like 35mm from the front instead of 37mm) and many of them are set to depths such as 1mm. I'm assuming these were done by a programmer who didn't know woodworking. You really need to check these closely with your hardware specs before you use them on a machine.
