How do you create a half wall

I need to draw this opening with a half wall on each side with columns on top of the half wall going to the top of the door opening. Please see picture
I can create the openong but how do I go about putting in the half walls?

All you need to do is make the wall as if there were no opening then cut an opening in the wall.

So i have to cut out the part that you see through and leave the part that would be the have walls?
