full dado deck

Post by Rob Davis »

Is there a way to full dado the deck and top of cabinets and not have the dado come out the front of the cabinet sides? I set the tenon back 1" but I think this only works on blind dados. How can we full dado the deck and top for frameless cabinets and not have the dado seen on the front?
Thanks in advance for the help. I searched the forum index but couldn't find an answer to this one previously.

Are you wanting stop dadoes on the front like this?

I used a combination of blind and full dadoes with the tenons set at 1" on front and 0" on back.

Here are the top settings I used. The deck settings are the same.

You can also change the tenon thickness (to 100%) or location (to top) to get a full stopped dado.

Dan, thanks for the reply. I understand the blind dado construction but I am asking about a full dado on frameless cabinets. I have a client who wants it and I am unsure why since we prefer blind dado every time. Nevertheless they want the deck and top full dado into the sides with a 1" set back, so the deck has a step out 1" back from the front of the cabinet and the dado is short of the cabinet face. Like a blind dado except instead of a 3/8 tenon, it is a 3/4 tenon. So if the deck is 3/4" thick, they want a 3/4" thick dado with a 1' set back from the front so the dado doesn't go out the front of the cabient. Clear as mud? I haven't found a way to do this in eCabs but there must be one?
Could I make it blind dado construction and make the dado setting to 100% and will it work?? Just wondering..... gotta go try it.
