I need to draw an object that is really a cube, 43.5 X 48 X 43.5, that is sliced in half diagonally along the 48" side.
I have read about using the part editor and the assembly editor for this, so I've attempted to create an assembly using display panels. I can figure out how to make and place the rectangular faces, but I can't figure out the triangular sides ( basically a 43.5 X 48 rectangle sliced diagonally lengthwise).
With your cube in the Contour Editor, draw a connected line around half the cube bisecting it corner to corner. Then take it back to the Part Editor, right click and select Cut/Pocket using closed contour, select the line , cut through.
How would you shape the side, though? I tried, out of curiosity, and couldn't figure it out. I had thought you could the rotate the cube 90 degrees in the CE, then bring it into the PE, to work on the side, but it didn't hold the rotation when brought in the PE.
Create the cube differently. I created this cube as 43.5x48x43.5. If you create it 48x43.5x43.5 then the longer face will show in a different position.
If I understand your reason for wanting to rotate the half cube, you can probably get that cut you're looking for by creating a profile shape that is a 45 degree undercut the height and depth that you need. The apply the profile to one of the visible edges on the top surface.
