Exporting labels Error. Not for cnc use
I did a search and found other to have this problem in the past but could not find the answer. Please help.
I export the my cut list to excel so that I can sort all my cuts into material and from largest to smallest. Works amazingly well. Very little waste. BUT, I was taking the parts and writing in pencil on the part or using blue tape then stacking. Very time consuming! So I'm trying to get the labels to work for me. I can get the labels to print just fine from the program BUT, I do not use a cnc so I dont want my labels organized by sheet and part #. So I'm trying to export the label and I'm getting this Error (see Picture)
Now Does anyone have a better way to do this? I have found a way to get everything I want on one label into one cell in excel and in the right order BUT lets say there are 300 parts in that job. I don't want to have to copy and paste each cell into each Label 300 times, from excel cut list to avery 5366 temp in word.
Then I could just use the labels as my cut list. I could skip a part if needed and the label would still be there telling me I have not cut it yet.
What does everyone else do with there cut list for non cnc?
Thanks
BEN

Ben,
I just print the labels from the nest but I also cut from the nest diagrams.

Ben,
What I do is export my cutlist to excel and then I import that to cutlist plus. I have more control of the sheet layout in cutlist plus.

Oh I see. Yea I do not mainly because there are usually a lot of parts with at least one side being the same size and I use a sliding panel saw with flip stops and if you have a whole bunch of parts it is so easy to do them all at the same time. Usually I will go through and do all my rips first for the whole job then go back and crosscut. I'm waiting for the CNC to magically come in the mail some day

Re: Exporting labels Error. Not for cnc use
Ben,
There was talk (many moons ago) about having drag and drop nesting in eCabinets. This would allow us to move parts around in the nest to fit our needs but so far it hasn't made it into the program.
Exporting into a third party software might be your best bet right now.
The program Gary is using prints some nice reports also.

Re: Exporting labels Error. Not for cnc use
Gary, I haven't used Cutlist Plus for quite a while now, but it seems to me I tried to import Ecab cutlists a couple years back and never got it to work. Would you mind sharing your procedure to import those excel files, I may want to give that another try myself. Thanks

Terry,
Go to Cutlist Plus web site, click on support tab, then click on Cad importing tap, then click on eCabinets instructions. It takes a little bit getting use to but it is not all that bad. I tried to post the instructions for you but when I re sized it to the 800 X 500 pixel size it was to blurry to read.

Re: Exporting labels Error. Not for cnc use
Thanks Gary, for some reason, unknown to me, I believe it's doing the same thing that it did to me before. When I import from excel it shuts down Cutlist Plus (gold edition). I'll have to play with it some more this evening.
Thanks for your help.

Terry,
You have to close excell before you import to cutlist plus. It will not work if excell is open.
