I'm in process of building my cabinet library. When I add a door to a cabinet it isn't the right size, based on my reveals. For instance, on a cabinet 508mm wide, 1.5mm reveal L and R, the door should be 505mm wide. But when I check the size of the door I've just added, it is "504.83 (Min. Inc. 0.79mm)".

Same thing on door heights.

Am I doing something wrong? The only "minimum increment" setting I can find is for drawer boxes. I want to be able to look at my door size and it be correct on a buy list.

0.79375" = 1/32" Is the software not truly working in metric when I select metric on the settings/preference page? Is this why the min. inc. =0.79". If this is true then how do you guys work in metric?

Found this in the "Settings/Preferences" help:

"When working with fractions, for both input and display, the system only accepts and displays fractions down to 1/32 inch and all measurements are rounded to the nearest 1/32 inch. If you need tighter dimensions than this, use the "Inches and Decimal" option in Settings/Preferences. "

This makes it sounds like the software rounds mm to 1/32" decimal equivalents. That doesn't make sense to me.

If you're using millimetres it should all be good mine is. Have you checked the thickness of any edgetape that might be getting applied?

Make sure you don't have the Round to Nearest MM box checked in preferences. If you have this checked the Door/Drawer Front editor will round your 1.5 MM reveal.

If this doesn't work post your cabinet for us to look at.

The round the mm box is unchecked. The door should be 503w x 605h, drawer front should be 503w x 157h. THe cabinet is 508w x 768h.
Reveals: 0mm bottom of door, 3mm gap to drawer front, 3mm top of drawer, 1.5mm L and R.

When I mouse over your door it shows the Type as Conestoga and the Name as Design Share
Replace the door with a CRP-10 and everything works.

When eCabinets had a Purchase door option the software would use Conestoga's minimum increments to size doors. I am guessing your door is some hold over from this,

I created a Crp-10 door with the reverse g-cove panel and used it and the dimensions were correct.

When I opened your cabinet in the cab editor it showed 2mm left and right reveals so I changed them to 1.5

I come out with some different measurements than you. If your cabinet is 508mm wide and you want a 1.5mm reveal each side of the door then 508mm-3mm(for reveals) =505mm for the door not 503

I am also getting some different door and drawer sizes if you want a 3mm reveal above the drawer and a 3mm gap between door top and drawer bottom and no reveal below door. I get 598.5mm for a door height and 163.5m drawer height.
3mm top reveal = 163.5mm drawer height=3mm gap + 598.5mm door height = 768mm This puts your door drawer gap centered in your stretcher

Kerry, Thanks for help with this. Typo on the 503, 505 is correct.

I tried a different door and the sizes work out. The design share/Conestoga 1/32 increments make since. I thought I had chosen the CRP10. I'll pay closer atttention to that in the future.

One thing that still puzzles me: In the door editor, I select the lower opening and place a door, the size is correct, 605h. When I select the upper opening and place a drawer, it suggests a size of 163.5. Where does this suggested size come from? I've played with changing the reveals, but can't seem to find the combination that makes it 157, the size I want. If I change the suggested drawer front size to 157 and place it, the door size is reduced by the difference.

Any ideas? Here's what I want: 0 bottom reveal + 605 door+3 gap (3 top reveal of door, 0 bottom reveal of drawer) +157 drawer + 3 top reveal = 768. I may have some confuion between my terminology and the setting terminology. I think of a door having a 3mm top reveal and a drawer having a 0 bottom reveal which is the same as a 3mm gap.

Here is how I got the numbers you want. I am not sure why it works but it did.
Use these settings in the Door/Drawer Front construction settings

Select the drawer opening and add your front 157mm tall
Select the door opening and add your door

Even though I show a 4mm reveal on the top door setting you will just have a 3mm gap between the door and drawer front.

You can also use these settings and you don't have to enter the drawer height manually.
Notice the gap settings removed.

Thanks for the screen shots Kerry. I played with the reveals as per your suggestions, and eventually got the desired front sizes. But this method of trial and error seems awkward and un-intuitive. It'd be nice to understand how the software uses all the reveal settings to get the correct door size. I can just imagine looking at these "wrong" reveal settings and changing something to the "correct" setting and messing everything up. Why does a 17mm bottom reveal on the drawer work out to an actual 3mm?

If you select the top opening and have 0 reveal for top and bottom on the drawer front your front will be the size of the opening plus 18mm for the top material and 18mm for the stretcher material.

Opening 141mm + 18mm top + 18mm stretcher = 177mm
-3mm top reveal = 174mm - 17mm =157mm your desired drawer front.

You wanted a top reveal of 3mm hence the 3mm top reveal setting. The 17mm bottom reveal is what it then took to get the size of 157mm that you wanted.

With 0mm top and bottom reveal settings your door will be the size of the opening plus 18mm for the bottom material and 18mm for the stretcher material. You want a 0mm bottom reveal so we leave that at 0 and you want a 3mm top reveal so we need to shrink the door by 1mm that the drawer front drops onto the stretcher material and then 3mm for the reveal you want making it a 4mm reveal setting.

Opening 573mm + 18mm stretcher material + 18mm deck material = 609mm
-1mm that the drawer front covers on the stretcher - 3mm you want for reveal between drawer and door (4mm total reveal setting) - 0mm bottom reveal =605 your correct door size.

The reveals are calculated from the outside edges of your opening size plus your material thickness.

You don't want a gap setting on this. Gap settings are for when you don not use a stretcher.

That helps a lot Kerry. I'm just one of those guys that isn't satisfied with just knowing, I need to understand what I know. I should be able to get somewhere now.

Dan, nope no relation that I'm aware of. I'm in East TN. Most of the "Pyle"s come from England. My g.grand father changed our spelling from "Pile" to "Pyle" sometime around 1890, even though he kept the first spelling for his whole life. But his son and my dad used the later spelling. Digging a bit deeper, I found that our original spelling was "Pfeil" and that we're of German descent. Dad got uninterested in his geneology after we found that out. He wanted to be English I think, and having served in England during WWII, think he didn't know what to make of having German ancestry.
