Drill Hole Settings

Why is the "Drill Hole Settings" turned off for fixed shelves in the shelf editor? I would like to drill a through hole for a fixed shelf like you can for an adjustable shelf. I am using KD/RTA fasteners and would like to use shared sides. The long cabinet with partisions method will not work in this case as I am using backs as well. Thanks for any suggestions.

You should be able to do what you're looking to do by modifying the depth of stud hole for the RTA pattern that you're using. If you've just got a shelf on just one side of the shared side, I would think you could set the depth of the stud hole, for the edge of the shelf that meets that side, equal to the material thickness. That should give you a through hole. If you have a shelf on either side of the shared side, a stud depth equal to at least half the material thickness, for the shelf edges that meet that side, should also give you a through hole.

Again, it may mean editing the RTA patterns. It may also mean you could end up using a different RTA pattern on either end of a given shelf, depending on your situation.

If I get a chance I'll try to post an example tomorrow.

Here's a sample cabinet. The stud holes in the left side are through holes, the stud holes in the right side are standard depth.

Hello I also have a question.

I can not seam to get the blum back plate holes to drill to the right depth it just leaves a dimple mark where the back plate should go.

Can someone help with this simple problem.

We were using the default pattern in the program. Maybe its not set up correctly?

2. click the "choose file" button and find the cabinet
3. "add file" button
4. submit

Rob, the problem is the hole pattern for the hinge plates are too shallow. You need to open the "Hardware Hole Editor" and adjust the depth of those holes to the proper depth.

Rob, open up the "hole hardware editor" and bring in the hole pattern. Find out where the holes need to be placed and the depths you want (do this by hovering your mouse over the existing yellow geometry and the settings will be seen). You will need to add in a circle geometry with your proper coordinates and (-) depth setting. Once you enter your coordinates it will ask for the diameter of the hole.

I'll try to get to you a modified pattern when I get a chance.

Just pull up the default pattern and double click both holes to highlight red. Then enter your desired depth and hit enter. Save as new name or under existing and your good to go. Make sure you change on all existing cabinets by highlight doors and applying to selected parts.
