Post by Simon Randall »

Hi

I have just spent a day reading up on this good software and can see how the seeding of a cab works on a standard unit but I need a different format seed cab please see the attached file.

So can any one help me out?

I have this unit in the following formats:
.c4d
.stl
.dxf

Hi Simon
What you have drawn can be done in ecabs.
What are you trying to do? manufacturing or display. A one off design or or a production run?
Some time to achieve what you want you have to apply a couple of methodologies or trick the program into doing something your way.

I am manufacturing / production run.

what I would like to do is make a part's for like the leg, rail, single cock bead and drawerline cock bead ETC.. then make a seed base cabinet from them as each of these item's can also be added to a job or be ordered on there own.

and there is some other thing when setting up materials:
Sheet stock = like 8" X 4" X 3/4" MFC / PLY ETC. ( material used for panel's).
Board Stock = like Oak , Walnut, Tulipwood (also known as Canary Whitewood and Yellow Poplar) 20 mm per metre ETC. ( material used for rail, single cock bead and drawerline cock bead).
so where would I put timber like Planed Whitewood Softwood 69x69mmx2.4m, Planed Whitewood Softwood 34x69mmx2.4m ETC. ( material used for leg's).
as Board has width N/A and placing it in with sheet's seems odd?
Thanks

Hi Simon
Everyoney manufactures their cabinets in a slightly different way.
There are quite a few different ways that your unit could be done. Someone else might have one just like yours sitting in a folder ready to go.
Ecabs is very versatile but it will never do it just the way you want it.
So you have to work out the best way for your system.
The online tutorials are very good (I should watch them more often) :?
I have attached a quick assembly (made up from5 units) that looks a bit like yours.
It would need a lot of refining to make it usable.
The .esa file goes into the assemblies folder (not the cabinets folder)
Hope this is useful for you.

Hi

Sorry for not getting back sooner.

I have been working on this and have got it working as a resizeable cabinet.

What do you think of it (the different woods show the woods used to make it with this is a panted unit to the end user)?

If ant one want it at this stage it is only a seed cabinet all with butt Construction.
