Question about an assembly

Ok, I have a project that requires all board stock.

1) if you use all display boards for the project, the program does not allow you to rotate the assembly as a whole. Any Ideas on how to get around this problem? OH using a display panel for the drawing will not let you get a proper cutlist of solid wood for the project.

I think the answer is: It's sheet stock, but you know different.

I think Dennis is correct, I have several sheet stock that are named, 4/4 Hardwood, 5/4 Hardwood etc. This gives you your costing info and tally for lumber.

Once you are finished with an assembly you can drag a box around the whole thing to select it then export it to the Display Part Editor and turn it into a Display object so you can rotate it easily. You will still need to keep the original assembly for your cutlist and costing info but you can use the display object to show the customer all sides.

I took the assembly to the Display Part Editor and saved it, went back to the Cabinet Editor and it still will not let me take it to the part editor. I thought once I saved it as a HSF file it then became one unit.

What are you trying to do?

If you create a display object from your assembly you will not be able to make any changes to the object. It is just a 3D model of your assembly.

I'm not sure what you are trying to do either.

Any part editor cuts must be made to the cabinet parts, display panels, display boards, display cubes. Cabinet parts would be any carcass components and slab door and drawer fronts. I think that's everything.

Once you make your part editor cuts, I'm not understanding why you would need to take it to the Display Part Editor. At that point, it will be come one object and can be rotated and placed "freely without snap points" anywhere. It can not be edited or exploded. If you don't take it to the Display Part Editor, it is still a cabinet made up of alias "display boards", since you are using sheet stock to simulate boards. In this state it is fully editable.

This is what I am wanting to do.

This was made with sheet stock I was wanting to make it out of board stock so I could get a accurate material list.

It seems to me that if you don't take it to the Display Part Editor, you are done with one exception and that can be overcome. It won't be displayed in board feet on the cut lists. If you need that, then you'll have a little math. But it can be nested, if need be and cut on a CNC. And you can get measured drawings of the components.

The wood grain has to be running up and down, not from front to back, so It is going to look kind a like a fence.

Just switch the width and length dimensions of your board. This board is 12" long and 48" wide.

Morning everyone have a bad day painting one of our 3rd floor apt. our sprayer went DOWN they want $600.00 to fix it

Back to my Question Kerry Did I see where you change the names on sheet goods to come out as board stock. On the cut list you would know. To you it will be board stock and not sheet goods ?

Yes I have some sheet stock that I use as solid lumber for things like glued up panels, slab fronts etc. This allows me to use a cabinet to create things like mantel legs and I know to add that hardwood sheet stock to my lumber tally.
