Suggestion for next release (part editor)

Post by Donald Thomson »

After working in PE much more then I ever have I have a suggestion that might make things easier. Under the erase there is a geometry cut option. This requires selecting each individual piece of geometry one at a time. It would be nice to have a feature that does something like geometry cut inside an inclusive window. Kinda like the erase inside window in the Contour Editor.

Would save a huge amount of time when erasing a lot of geometry.

Hi Donald,
If you need to erase all the geometry cuts from a part, you can do so from the cabinet editor by selecting the cabinet, then right click, and choose 'remove part editor cuts' either from a selected part or from the entire cabinet. Not sure if this will save you any time or not......

Actually I had about half the holes I created in a part I wanted to delete. I had to select each hole individually. This is a situation where it would be ice to drag a window border around a group of geometric cuts and delete them all at once.

I know from the CE I can delete all PE cuts from a part. This is a great time saver in many instances. Thanks for this idea.

Here is the justification for this feature request:

That attached picture shows a cabinet side that I am adding 5mm hardware holes to. With the current PE mode to create geometry cuts, I have to click the mouse 44 times for each end of the cabinet (88 clicks - I'm getting carpal tunnel :( ) so I can create the cuts. With the ability to stretch a window around the holes I want to cut, it would be click, drag, release.

HUGE time savings! :D
