Issue with corner cabinet dimensions

Post by Scott Marshburn »

Load the std corner framed cabinet into the cabinet/assembly editor and run the cut list. In the sheet component listing the cabinet name is (Assembly Cab. No.1) Standard Cabinets/ Std Corner Framed 12"W X 34 1/2"H X 24"D (Corner)
Change the left or right back to 48 inches and run the cut list. The name is now (Assembly Cab. No.1) Standard Cabinets/ Std Corner Framed-MOD1 48"W X 34 1/2"H X 24"D (Corner)
Change The Left or right back to 36 inches and run the cut list. The name is now (Assembly Cab. No.1) Standard Cabinets/ Std Corner Framed-MOD1 36"W X 34 1/2"H X 24"D (Corner)
Save The resized cabinet in a library. Load this cabinet into a room or batch and run the cut list. The name is (Assembly Cab. No.1) Standard Cabinets/ Std Corner Framed-MOD1 36"W X 34 1/2"H X 24"D (Corner)
Load the std corner framed cabinet into the same job and run the cut list again now there are two identical cabinets with two completely different sizes. The resized cabinet is named Cabinet No. 1 - MyTestCabinets/ Std Corner Framed Name Test
36"W X 34 1/2"H X 24"D (Corner) and the original cabinet is named Cabinet No. 2 - Standard Cabinets/ Std Corner Framed
12"W X 34 1/2"H X 24"D (Corner)
If you have these two cabinets in a room and you click on the resized cabinet the dimensions that appear are 24 x 36. And the std corner cabinet shows 12 x 24. I would think that the correct dimensions would be 24 x 36.
I am posting this issue because it can cause problems when I extract the cabinet sizes into my excel workbook. This makes it difficult to automate the process due to the fact that if the std corner framed cabinet was saved in another library before it was resized. The dimensions will be 12 x 34 1/2 x 24. I can change the width to 36 with code but if the cabinet is resized when it is placed in a room or batch then the width will be correct in the cabinet’s name. So I must have some way of knowing if the cabinet has been resized or not.

upon looking at this further even 36 x 24 is not the correct dimensions it should be 36 x 12. I say this because if you have a 36 inch corner cabinet that is 24 inches deep and 36 inches in both directions the total linear feet for that cabinet is 48 inches. See the screen shot below
