Hi,

Does anybody know how to edit a door so you can resize it ? I would like to have raise panels on the side of a cabinet.

Look at the post titled "Door Tooling" about half way through it Kerry posted something about being able to resize doors in the batch cabinets area. It might work for you.

Gary, you can bring a door into your room layout and place it on the side of you cabinet, or add it to a cab in the CE and save it as an assembly.

Rick,

I tried that, in cab. editor I ceated a cabinet then got a door from door editor it was placed in the door opening, then I highlited the door a tried to move it and it won't move.

Right click >load item>select Doors/Drawers, here you select the door style and size. Click ok. Your selected door will now be in the center of the screen, possibly hidden in the cabinet your working on,click on the door to select it, move and rotate it close to where you need it, then using Align Items, snap it into place.HTH

Thanks Rick,

I did that and works great, now how can you edit the rails and styles of the selected door,and if need be put in a middle rail.
In other words how would I get a 3" style and a 8" rail

Gary,

You can use a Thermwood door but if you choose a 3" stile, both stiles will be 3" if you choose an 8" rail both rails will be 8". You would have to use a display board for a mid rail and it won't have machining and won't re-size. You can build a door from a face frame but that gets a little involved also.

Thanks I never used Thermwood doors always conestoga, but will try it as for as getting a visual. I am intrested in the face frame method that seems the way to go,because that would be the way I would build it. I might be able to figure out the face frame part, but how would you raise the panel, and if you create a panel does it automaticly size it self to the opening?

I brought an old post back to the top that is about panel ends and bar backs made with the face frame method. I have a lot of panel ends saved in one of my libraries. I'll try to make it in to the shop tomorrow and post some of them for you.

Here is a sample of a raised panel end that I did all of the cuts using tools created in eCabinets. You don't have to do the stile and cope cuts unless you want them to display properly in presentation views. I use a face frame with negative insets on the rails the length of your cutter (either 3/8" or 1/2") and I use an mdf door with the panel raise on it. This way if will re-size and by changing mid-stiles and rails you can create different looks.
