I need help with a crashing file

Post by JohnLashuay »

I am working in 5.1.3 and I have designed a master bath, and now I am revising it.

I have reworked the vanity cabinets, and now that I am deleting the old cabinets and placing the new ones in, going from the detail room to the custom layout it freezes in the process.

The new cabinets are very similar, just some minor changes so I am not sure why this is happening. I tried removing most of the bathroom walls and other non essential items, and the same thing happens.

Can someone help with this???

The file is attached.

Thanks in advance for any help with this!!

The file that ends in new is of course the latest that I am trying to replace the previous ones with.

Thanks,

Interesting...

1. Placing BOTH cabinets in the same room ---> crashes with same memory error.

2. Placing each cabinet individually in the room ---> works OK.

I attach the images I obtained from each rendering.

It sounds as though your computer may be trying to allocate more virtual memory to satisfy the needs of the program when it freezes.

Go to the Tips & Tricks area in the eCabWorld member's Lounge and look at my article on Virtual Memory.

I upped the virtual memory and I also ran the tweak for the nVidia card. I then went back into the program to remove the knobs off the doors. When I try and take this cabinet into the door editor, it freezes. Is there any way to find out what is causing this? In the mean time I will build a new one, but I would like to find out what is wrong so that I can avoid it in the future.

Thanks

Dan,

I checked out your article, and I was wondering how effective is it to put the virtual memory on the second drive. Right now I only have one hard drive, and I want to make sure it is worth adding another drive. Did you see a considerable change with it?

Thanks,
John

If you already have a second drive it is good to move the paging file to it. I doubt that you would see enough performance gain to justify the cost of a second drive if you don't already have one in the computer.
