I would like to attempt to make a top mount crown using the profile modeling within eCabs to see how it compares to my other cad/cam performance.
Would anyone care to take a look at it and make suggestions on how to proceed? This is the first time I have attempted to use the profile creator. Any suggestions on tooling?
Ok, let me try again. I must have opened the wrong file on my end.
I tried highlighting the profile and then saving as a x_t but still couldn't open the file in eCabs. So, I saved it as a dxf and it imported fine. The file that I have attached is a dxf file.
That worked Chris. Make a .tol(@5.5 dia.) using your .dxf. I used a display panel that was 5 1/2\" x 96\". Take the panel into Part Editor, select Profile Edge, single, click on the bottom of the left edge. Find the tool you just made and set the right offset to 2.75, plunge depth to 1 1/16. This is just a starting point but you will see how it works and get the hang of it.

Ok, I've got it. I understand how to create the modeled part. Now for the THM Control. I have installed the latest Profile Modeler version.
Reading through the manual, and looking through the setup at the control, I see that I can define 3 types of tools, right? A custom tool - which has the defined shape, like a panel raise tool. The other 2 types would be under Modeling, either Square Edge or Radiused edge. So, this means that the control wouldn't be able to use a vtool or a liner tool to clean out corners. What I'm saying is that I wouldn't be able to define a Liner tool like a SESLIN062 tool. Am I correct? Or would I have to set up such a tool as a \"Custom Tool\" and assign it to a specific area of the modeled part?
Maybe it's easier to ask that anyone that's used the Profile Modeling function on the THM, how would you approach this?
You are correct about the tooling setup. It looks like they set it up for a pointed bit(45 or liner) to be used in the future. I guess you could setup your liner as a custom tool. You might try just setting your liner bit as a ballnose with a 1/16\" dia.(or less) and see what that does.
