Slatwall On Back Of Cabinet
Hey all,
I'm creating a cabinet that will be used at a point of sale area for a retail store. The cabinet doors/drawers will face the clerk and the "back" will face the customer. My client wants slatwall on the back. We typically just purchase sheets of slatwall, cut them to size in the field and install. This is no problem and we'll most likely continue this practice. However, the client would like to see this detail inside eCab' when I present the design.
So, I don't necessarily need to create slatwall in eCab' as if I'm going to cut it from scratch... I just need to display it.
Would it be easier to simply model the slatwall in another system and import .STL files and make them Display Objects? Or should I try to actually create something within eCab'
Keep in mind I've only been using the software here and there for a few months so I'm very green.
thanks for any help/advice!!!
Heath

Re: Slatwall On Back Of Cabinet
Do you need to just see the horizontal "lines" running across the panel every X inches? Or do you actually need to visualize the slot?

Brad,
Good point... you have me thinking... can this be done with some vertical stretchers that float on the back of the cabinet maybe?

I was also thinking about a display panel or cube with an image of the horizontal "slots".

Re: Slatwall On Back Of Cabinet
Hi Heath
I had a play with this and created a back and applied some part editor cuts with a mockup slatwall cutter.
It is a 2400mm x 1200mm with 100mm spacing
I have not applied any constraints
I found I could resize the width no problem and height.
If you make the height smaller then larger you loose the cuts. So you just need to reload the original back.
Don't machine this part from my mockup but I think you could set it up fairly easily.
See how you go.

Hello all
I have different bead board in my display objects that I got from the 3D files. It has been there for quite a while and you can scale it. I would post it if I knew how, but you should be able to get it if you search for bead board in the 3D files. Thank you to whoever made it.

Re: Slatwall On Back Of Cabinet
Thank you all very much!
I'm so inept with this software I'm not even sure how to use the files you all have provided
After I download them, I'm guessing I need to put them into a specific folder but after that... do they become display objects?
I'd love to be able to add a slatwall component that would adjust automatically as I change the size of the cabinets.

Heath -- You download it to your IMPORT file and then open in DISPLAY PART EDITOR and then add colour or texture and save as a SAMPLE hsf.

Wally....
I am guessing that the next question is going to be:
"Since the files are ESJs - how do you import an ESJ into the Display Part Editor?"
I have looked at the ESJs and only see USER CREATED OBJECTS. Even I am not sure how one edits and/or saves a USER CREATED OBJECT once it is in an ESJ.

Brad,
Open the job file .esj then select one of George's panels and in the menu bar click File then Export Selection.
You can then open it in the Display Part Editor and save it as a Display object again
