Pocketing Problem
These are some adjustable shelves that I did a through pocket cut (using Closed Contour) in the eCabinets part editor.
I want to cut them out, not turn them to dust.
I have tried changing the Pocket Area (Through Cuts) setting in Control Nesting (down to 1^2) but it still wants to make dust out of the centers.
What am I setting wrong?

Re: Pocketing Problem
Kerry, I think you have to set your desired tool to pocket and Rout/Dado.

Re: Pocketing Problem
Kerry you can also use a "interior" or "exterior" tool and a profile to get what you need if you can't make the pocketing work. I'm sure you already thought of this though....

Re: Pocketing Problem
Kerry, after looking into file it seems you are wanting to cut a lip, maybe for a glass shelf....Control nesting does not support this type of cut yet...It should see a pocket cut inside a pocket cut, but as of right now it is wanting to pocket the whole area to the .25 lip depth and then do a through cut ...it should cut correctly but with the unnecessary full pocket routine.

Re: Pocketing Problem
Thanks Joe,
I am going to use Josh's suggestion and pocket the center then use a profile to cut my rebate.
Thanks to all who replied.

Re: Pocketing Problem
I hope you got it cut , Kerry. What I do there is make the thro cut as 1 pocket, then offset the rebate .1mm out from it. Works fine.

Re: Pocketing Problem
Sean,
I got them cut fine. I was even able to add a pass with a 3/16" tool to square the corners.(and after, decided I didn't like plywood so I tossed them and built the shelf frames out of hardwood)
I didn't think about adding a little space to create two separate pockets. Thanks for the information.
